As part of our project, my sub-team and I had the opportunity to develop a Python program that sorts autoclaves of different sizes and colors into the appropriate location. We worked in a group of three, using a pair of EMG sensors on both hands. Our primary motivation behind this program was to provide healthcare access to remote communities by using these autoclaves to store surgical tools and sterilize them in the correct autoclaves.

The program functions by taking a container ID, passing it through a series of functions to determine the appropriate autoclave bin location, close the gripper, move the end-effector, and open the drawer as required. We also developed a system to pass in variables for the current state of the gripper and autoclave drawer. However, we faced a considerable challenge while debugging the project. We encountered issues with getting the containers placed in an orderly manner, which required lots of experimentation and debugging to determine the exact location to release the containers into the drawers and bins.

Ultimately, this project was a great learning experience for me and my team. We were able to develop a program that would expand healthcare access in remote communities by providing surgical tools that are correctly sterilized. The project required lots of experimentation and debugging, but we were able to overcome these challenges and build a program that worked well.
